The tour allows you to visit in depth a good part of this extraordinary archaeological site that covers about 50 hectares, in which ancient ruins and nature merge to create suggestive landscapes. Founded according to tradition by King Anco Marzio in a strategic area from the military and commercial point of view, Ostia was the first Roman colony, port of the city of Rome at the mouth of the Tiber river. Along the way you will be able to observe the grandiose theater dating back to the Augustan era, the Baths of Neptune and its mythological mosaics, the remains of the imposing Capitolium that towers over the Piazza del Foro and the famous insulae and tabernae. A unique archaeological site in the world where it is really possible to relive the daily life of the ancient Romans in a chronological span of 8 centuries. ## Before you book - Meeting point: Meeting at the ticket office of the… - Min. 2 to book: not for solo travellers - Starts 09:30, 14:00, 15:00: 3 departures a day - Strollers OK: infants accepted - Children from €84: ages 0 to 17 **Pickup:** No hotel pickup: everyone meets at the start point ## Key facts - Price: from €155 per person - Duration: 3h - Rating: 4.92/5 from 59 reviews (collected from Guidekin & Viator & Tripadvisor) - Free cancellation (see policy below) - Operator: Visit Ostia Antica - Minimum booking: 2 travellers at this price - Group: Private tour, your party only - Guide languages: German, English, Italian, French - Start times: 09:30, 14:00, 15:00 - Booking: Instant confirmation, mobile ticket - Price checked on Viator: 2026-10-03 ## Reviews 4.92 from 59 ratings on Guidekin, Viator & Tripadvisor. 98% of ratings with a star breakdown are 4 or 5 stars: 58 of 59. - 5 stars: 57 (97%) - 4 stars: 1 (2%) - 3 stars: 0 (0%) - 2 stars: 0 (0%) - 1 star: 1 (2%) ### What reviewers say Reviewers praise the guides' archaeological insight and explanations of Roman daily life; heat is a recurring caveat during the walk. **Praised:** - Archaeological expertise that makes Roman daily life easier to understand - Maps and illustrations that help explain the ruins - Routes through buildings and details visitors would otherwise miss - Patient explanations and stories that keep children engaged - A quieter visit than central Rome, with fewer crowds **Complaints:** - Heat during the walk around the extensive ruins - Some report gaps in booking or ticket communication, while others praise responsive help Written by Guidekin from the 49 most recent English reviews on Viator & Tripadvisor (2018-07-15 to 2026-07-22); last checked 2026-10-03. ## What's included - Guided tour - Local Judas ## Itinerary 1. **Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica** (3h; admission included) - Necropolis, Terme di Nettuno, Theater, Piazzale delle Corporazioni, Terme del Foro, Capitolium, Tabernae ## Schedule - Runs: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun - Departures: 09:30, 14:00, 15:00 - Schedule last checked: 2026-10-03 - These are published departures, not a live seat count; availability is confirmed at checkout. ## Cancellation For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. ## Meeting point Meeting at the ticket office of the excavations Map: https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJJZGzyEzwJRMRSjjqBOf9mro Ends: back at the meeting point ## Good to know - Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller - Service animals allowed - Public transportation options are available nearby - Suitable for all physical fitness levels ## Cost for your party | People | Total | Per person | |---|---|---| | 2 | €310 | €155 | | 4 | €560 | €140 | | 6 | €840 | €140 | Cheapest option for that party size from the operator's current price tiers; the calendar shows the exact figure for your date.
