Set in a 260-year-old samurai residence, the experience is deeply rooted in Kyoto’s warrior past. What sets it apart is the balance of action, atmosphere, and insight. Alongside hands-on training, guests gain meaningful context about the samurai—understanding not only how, but why these traditions were practiced. From wearing traditional attire to practicing movements with expert instructors, each step immerses you in a way of life shaped by centuries of discipline. You’ll refine your form through sword work, then cut a target with a real iaitō. The experience ends with Zen meditation and the chance to hold an antique samurai sword—connecting body, mind, and history. Thoughtfully designed, it offers a powerful introduction to the enduring spirit of the samurai. **Pickup:** No hotel pickup: everyone meets at the start point ## Key facts - Price: from €104 per person - Duration: 1h 45m - Rating: 4.96/5 from 1498 reviews (collected from Guidekin & Viator & Tripadvisor) - Free cancellation (see policy below) - Likely to sell out - Operator: Kyoto Samurai Experience - Group: Shared tour - Guide languages: Japanese, English - Start times: 10:00, 13:00, 15:00 - Booking: Instant confirmation, mobile ticket - Price checked on Viator: 2026-11-08 ## Reviews 4.96 from 1498 ratings on Guidekin, Viator & Tripadvisor. 99% of ratings with a star breakdown are 4 or 5 stars: 1490 of 1498. - 5 stars: 1448 (97%) - 4 stars: 42 (3%) - 3 stars: 3 (0%) - 2 stars: 1 (0%) - 1 star: 4 (0%) ## Tour options Prices are the operator's current list price for two travellers (whole euros); options sold only to bigger parties say so; pick the option on the booking page. | Option | Price | Guide languages | Details | |---|---|---|---| | Samurai Experience | €104 / person | Japanese, English | Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes New location: We are moving to a new location from October 21st, 2026.
