# Porto at Golden Hour: Ribeira, the River and the Bridge

## Overview

Porto saves its best for the end of the day. As the sun drops behind the river, the Ribeira's tiled houses catch fire, the great iron bridge turns to lace against the sky, and the whole city leans toward the water. This evening walk follows that light.

We wander the Ribeira's arcades and alleys down to the quay, where the rabelo boats that once carried port wine still bob at their moorings. Then we climb to the upper deck of the Dom Luís I bridge for the view everyone comes to Porto for: Gaia's cellars glowing gold across the Douro, the river turning to copper below.

Your guide knows the corners the crowds miss and the exact spot to be when the lights come on. Bring a camera, you'll want it.

## Itinerary

1. **Praça da Ribeira** (20m) - We gather by the river as the afternoon light turns gold on the tiled houses.
2. **Cais da Ribeira & the quay** (30m) - Arcades, alleys and the rabelo boats that once carried port downriver.
3. **Upper deck of the Dom Luís I bridge** (30m) - We cross high above the Douro for the view everyone comes to Porto for.
4. **Miradouro da Serra do Pilar** (25m) - Gaia's cellars glowing gold and the whole city spread out below.
5. **Back as the lights come on** (20m) - We finish riverside as Porto switches on for the night.
