We’ll begin near Gare St. Charles with coffee and something freshly baked before exploring neighborhoods beyond the Vieux-Port. Along the way, we’ll taste West African accras, Algerian bradj filled with dates, Marseille’s signature navettes and other specialties tied to the city’s diverse heritage.
There will also be locally caught seafood, Tunisian Jewish lemonade, Armenian charcuterie and plenty of encounters with the people keeping these traditions alive. At the top of the monumental staircase, “Escalier de la Gare Saint-Charles”, leading from Boulevard d’Athenes at Place des Marseillaises up to the main level of the train station. You will see two large lion statues. Your guide will be waiting for you just beside the lion on the left.
