How We Choose Tours

We list the best, and leave out the rest

Most platforms show you everything and leave you to sort through the noise. We do the opposite. Before a tour can appear on Guidekin, it has to pass a simple but strict selection, so the page you land on is already the shortlist, not the whole haystack.

No paid placement, no padding the list to look bigger. A tour earns its spot on merit, or it isn't here.

Our selection criteria

Rated 4.5 and above

We don't list partner tours below 4.5 out of 5. A tour has to genuinely delight travelers, not merely satisfy them, to make the cut.

A real review track record

Partner tours need at least 30 verified traveler reviews, and our named editorial picks need at least 50. These thresholds exclude ratings based on only a handful of reviews. They are minimum review counts, not evidence that every tour has served hundreds of travelers.

Cross-checked sources

Ratings are aggregated from verified traveler reviews on Viator and Tripadvisor, people who actually took the tour, never self-reported by the operator.

No filler, no tourist traps

We drop duplicates, thin new listings and the over-sold stuff. If a tour pads out the page without earning its place, it's gone.

Originals & new guides: a different bar

Our own Guidekin Originals and tours from newly joined guides can't have a review history yet, so they clear a different bar: licence checked, itinerary manually reviewed by us, and always labeled as new, never blended into the rated catalogue.

We keep watching

Ratings move over time. We keep an eye on the bar, so a tour that slips below the standard doesn't get to stay on the strength of its old reputation.

The numbers behind "handpicked"

Viator lists 127,810 tours across our 78 destinations. Guidekin lists 13,634 of them: every one rated 4.5★ or higher by 30+ travellers, screened as a real tour, read and summarised by our editors. Listings counted on October 22, 2026.

Imported and later hidden: 500 tours, of which 55 fell below the bar at a later rating refresh and 411 turned out not to be tours (transfers, rentals, tickets without a guide). 277 were hidden in the last 30 days, and 255 are currently unavailable at the supplier and stay off the listings until they return.

Point-to-point and airport transfers are out. A shuttle that exists to make one specific activity possible, such as a drop-off for a self-guided mountain hike with a pickup at the far end, stays in the catalogue as part of that experience.
