One of Iceland's most famous places. This is where the Vikings assembled every summer to discuss the law, make convictions and of course practice politics of their time (something that really hasn't changed much in 1.000 years) The National Park is also a unique place in terms of geology for this is the place where you can clearly see how the Tectonic Plates are pulling apart in Iceland.
1hWe visit the hot spring area in Haukadalur the home of Geysir - the geyser all geysers are named after. Though the old Geysir has been dormant for some time his little brother Strokkur is erupting beautifully every few minutes.
30 minThis magnificent waterfall is one of the highlights of the Golden Circle tour. It is hard to describe the experience of being there. There is something about seeing thousands of tons of glacial water rushing through every second. Truly amazing.

This vibrant blue gem, which is part of the Western Volcanic Zone that includes the Reykjanes peninsula and the Langjökull Glacier, is a mere 6,500 years old – making it one of the three most recognizable volcanic craters in Iceland. The caldera is approximately 55 m deep, 170 m wide, and 270 m across, and is made up of a unique red volcanic rock.
