15 minAfterwards we will head to the Papal Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, "the cathedral of Rome". It is the mother church of the Catholic Church and the residence of the pope as bishop of Rome. Built in the fourth century by Constantine, it is the oldest of the papal basilicas. Inside you will find the magnificent Holy Staircase (the staircase that, according to tradition, Jesus ascended to Jerusalem). San Giovanni in Laterano is also home to the Lateran Archbasilica, a symbol of the bond between the Church and the city of Rome
25 minAnother stop will be at the Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, one of the seven Jubilee Churches in Rome. It was built on a residence of Empress Helena, Constantine’s mother, and houses some of the most important Christian relics, including fragments of the True Cross
