   Located between the Aventine and the Palatine, the Circus Maximus in Rome was a stadium with a capacity for 300,000 spectators. Its sand track, 600 meters long and 225 meters wide, made the Circus Maximus the largest stadium in Rome, more capacious than the Circus Flaminius and the Circus of Maxentius.

   The entire square is approximately 340 meters wide while the ellipse has an arc 240 meters wide. The ellipse is partially closed on both sides by colonnades made up of 284 columns and 88 pillars.
