Overview

Guidekin summary

A different kind of underground: the ancient aqueduct that still feeds the Trevi Fountain, followed from the Spanish Steps down to a skip the line visit beneath the Trevi district, in a group capped at twelve, rated 4.9 across 202 reviews. Guide and underground tickets are included at €52 per person, pickup is not. Fine for children, and it runs in rain.

From the guide

This is a small and intimate group walking tour of no more than 12 people.

We'll start by the Spanish steps, where you'll learn everything about them and why they're called like this (you'll be surprised!).

By the Spanish steps we'll meet the first fountain of the tour. This is where we'll begin a journey through the aqueducts of Rome! In fact this fountain is still fed today by an ancient Roman aqueduct built in 19BC!

From here we'll follow the aqueduct which is, for the most part, underground. And by casually walking through this itinerary we’ll find parts of the aqueduct appearing between the modern buildings.

We'll follow the aqueduct until its monumental end: the Trevi fountain. But we won't stop here.

We'll get away from the crowds, turn the corner and discover the underground water reservoir that the ancient Romans built over 2000 years ago!

During this walking tour you won't just see the specific site, but learn also how modern Rome was built around the ancient ruins.
