Snorkeling in St Maarten is best on the French side, where Creole Rock, Pinel Island and Tintamarre sit inside a marine reserve with turtles and shallow reef, and most of the 21 tours on this page reach them by speed boat or catamaran from the Dutch side. Each was picked by hand after we read every listing and kept only operators rated 4.5★ or higher. The cheapest is a four hour three island trip from €44 per person; the most expensive are full days with turtle swims, beach bars and a BBQ lunch.
Marine reserve fees on the French side are sometimes charged on top of the tour price and paid in cash on the boat. Gear is included everywhere, and the speed boat trips are wet and bumpy in the open stretch between the islands, so a dry bag and seasickness tablets help. Turtle swims are look only, enforced by the crews. Lunch is at a beach bar on Pinel paid separately on the cheaper listings and included on the BBQ days.
